Tourism Strong at CHTA’s Caribbean Travel Marketplace In San Juan
San Juan, Puerto Rico: Oct. 3: The 40th edition of Caribbean Travel Marketplace opened in style at the Puerto Rico Convention Center in San Juan. Attracting industry movers, shakers, players and partners, the biggest event on the Caribbean Hotel & Tourism Association’s (CHTA) calendar, included opening festivities at Distrito T-Mobile; the adjacent entertainment and retail complex, where attendees and delegates were treated to a spirited roster of musicians and dancers and a menu of local sips and snacks.
Marking the first in-person edition since the onset of the pandemic, Caribbean Travel Marketplace continues through Oct. 5. “The Caribbean is in hot demand and doing very well,” said CHTA President Nicola Madden-Greig, “we’re gaining momentum with arrivals on an uptick, we are clearly in a growth mode and will continue to build on that success.
Caribbean Hotelier of the Year
Distinguished Jamaican hotelier and businessman Kevin Hendrickson was awarded Caribbean Hotelier of the Year by the Caribbean Hotel and Tourism Association (CHTA). Hendrickson, Courtleigh Hospitality Group’s Managing Director, is known for his support of many tourism-related organizations, including the Jamaica Hotel and Tourist Association (JHTA), Jamaica Tourist Board, and the Tourism Linkages Council. He owns and operates The Jamaica Pegasus, The Courtleigh Hotel & Suites and Knutsford Court Hotel in New Kingston, and Holiday Inn Resort in Montego Bay.
