Escape the hustle and bustle of the city and enjoy your little slice of paradise. Caribbean Week in New York is a lively, colorful celebration of the 30 countries represented by the Caribbean Tourism Organization (CTO) taking place from June 1-8, 2013. In this case, you don’t have to leave the Big Apple to experience the vibrancy that makes up the Caribbean, but it is highly recommended! Tourism officials, artists, performers, media, investors, chefs, fashion designers, models, and more come together to create one of the most lively weeks of the year in New York.
Here are the week’s most anticipated events:

Caribbean Celebrity Chef Program –  Tues. June 4 from 9 am – 10 pm., Location TBA
Join acclaimed Caribbean chefs as they prepare their country’s signature dishes. Visitors will be able to experience one of the things these islanders take most pride in: their cuisine. These chefs will be cooking at various renowned locations in New York. Locations are to be announced, so keep an eye out for them on the Caribbean Week website. Chefs will be able to engage with the audience as they stir up some of their country’s traditional dishes with a twist. This event is open to the public.

Caribbean Fashion Show – Tues. June 4 from 6-10 pm – The New Yorker Hotel, 481 8th Avenue, New York, NY 10001
Among many other things, the Caribbean is known for its superb fashion industry. With bright and lively patterns, these styles and trends are hard to ignore. Gifted designers from many of the CTO countries exhibit their couture at the show. The Caribbean Fashion Show is the real deal – investors and buyers are invited to decide which of the trendy designs they’ll purchase. This event is public, however, tickets are in big demand. Proceeds from the fashion show go to the CTO Foundation, which grants scholarships to Caribbean Nationals. Click here to purchase tickets to this one-of-a-kind show.

Rum and Rhythm Benefit and Auction – Fri June 7 from 6:30-10:30 pm – Tribeca 360, 10 Desbrosses Street, New York, NY 10031
To end Caribbean Week with a bang is the Rum and Rhythm Benefit Auction, the “Ultimate Caribbean Epicurean Experience”. If you like Caribbean rum and cuisine, then this is the event for you. The chefs from the week’s Caribbean Celebrity Chef Program will be preparing the enticing food for the event covering the French, Spanish, Dutch and English regions of the Caribbean. You’ll be among famous Caribbean entertainers and performers, rum enthusiasts, and Caribbean personalities as well as CTO members. Auction items include all-inclusive stays to a variety of 5-star hotels in the Caribbean, such as Coco Reef Resort and Spa, The Club Barbados Resort and Spa, and Galley Bay Resort and Spa in Antigua. Come dance to the rhythm of the island, bid on one-of-a-kind auction items, and sample the unforgettable foods of the Caribbean.
