Although fresh fish and fruity drinks are typically associated with Caribbean cuisine, there is so much more that adds to the island flavor. Because of the Caribbean’s strong African, Spanish, French, and British influences, their eclectic cuisine reflects a complex mix of all of these different cultures. You won’t be able to find food like this anywhere else in the world. Here are just a few picks for unique dining experiences in the Caribbean that display this sombination of cultures:

Boston Jerk Centre- Port Antonio, Jamaica
If you’re familiar with the famous Jamaican jerk dish, you won’t find it anywhere better than the Boston Jerk Centre. After all, this is where it was invented. This unpretentious beach hut surrounded by pimento logs and open pits is the perfect place to enjoy tasty chicken, pork, goat, fish, and more. You can order meat by the quarter, half, or full pound.

Coyaba Restaurant – Providenciales, Turks and Caicos
Romantic restaurant to eat in the Turks and Caicos Islands. Past visitors suggest ordering a variety of appetizers rather than splurging for one of the pricy entrees. With delectable dishes such as lobster thermidor, 12 hour Merlot braised conch bolognese, and guava-and-tamarind barbecue ribs, Coyaba is a restaurant you do not want to miss.

Le Ti St. Barth Caribbean Tavern- Pointe Milou, St. Bart’s
This fashionable, eclectic hilltop hotspot is the perfect place to dance the night away while enjoying some of the Caribbean’s finest dishes. With its nightclub/lounge ambiance, you can enjoy a nice drink, watch the attractive crowd at the bar, and make friends instantaneously with other visitors. Some of Le Ti’s flavorsome dishes include Sashimi de Thon au Caviar, Lobster Ceviche, and Pan Fried Foie gras. This is definitely not your average island restaurant.

KoalKeel – The Valley, Anguilla
KoalKeel is one of Anguilla’s newest dining experiences. The restaurant combines West Indian and French style cuisine to produce a delectable dish. This 200 year old plantation house has an outstanding 15,000 bottle wine cellar for all of those wine aficionados. Dishes you have to try here are the grilled snapper, grilled lobster with dirty rice and the mahi mahi. This upscale French-inspired restaurant will be the best meal you’ll ever have in the Caribbean.

Bamboo Bernies, Buddha Lounge – Maho Beach, St. Maarten
Bambo Bernies offers NY style sushi with a Caribbean twist. This asian fusion restaurant is one of the most recognized latenight dining hotspots on the island and hosts a great Sake Hour. Don”t be surprised to see a celebrity chef occasionally make an appearance with a unique one time menu special. The restaurant is situated in the heart of Maho Beach within walking distance to Tantra Nightclub and other attractions.

The Caribbean region offers electrifying and adventurous cuisine unparallelled to other parts of the world. Your Caribbean vacation experience just wouldn”t be complete without it!
