Caribbean Week brings a sense of excitement and color to the concrete jungle of New York City. With so many vibrant events to celebrate the different cultures of the Caribbean, it’s hard to keep track of all them. The Caribbean Tourism Organization (CTO) launched a smartphone app so people are able to closely follow Caribbean Week and all of its events. The app was developed by Cititech Solutions.
The free CaribWeek app is very detailed-oriented, designed for both New York locals and tourists. The app comes with a direction button that gives you step-by-step instructions on how to get to event locations. Instead of having to go on the website to purchase event tickets, users are able to do so right from their smartphone. The design of the app is very basic so even those who are technologically-challenged are able to understand it with ease. Users have clear access to the Caribbean Week website, Official Caribbean Tourist Board Facebook Page, calendar of events, media, forum, and more. People are able to send any questions, comments, or concerns they may have to the event coordinators using the app. If attending an event, the app will store the event’s information, such as the time, date, and location, on your phone’s calendar so you won’t forget about it. Anything relating to the Caribbean Week is posted under the News button so users are able to stay up to date with the event using other sources. Coinciding with that, any Twitter users that post anything relating to the Caribbean Week or use the #CaribbeanWeek or #CaribWeek hashtag that appears on the News Feed, as well. Everything that is on the Caribbean Week website is on the app.
So how can you best utilize the app? The Caribbean App holds several open forums for users to publish new content and offer exciting travel tips or advice via threads. Be sure to check out your favorite Caribbean Destination forum and become part of the conversation .
Overall, this is a great app that conveniently holds everything that is featured on the Caribbean Week website. The CTO was very meticulous about this app being contemporary, so that’s a plus. Another remarkable thing about the app is if users attend the Rum and Rhythm Benefit and Auction, they can use the app to bid on auction items, which can cause more people to download the app. We’ll have to keep track of the app’s progress and user traffic once Caribbean Week begins.
