Celebrating Saint Lucia’s Festival Season with Cap Maison
May 2018. Following the huge success of last year’s launch, the Soleil Summer Festival in Saint Lucia is back with a wide array of lively events to see the summer through to autumn. The aim of the festival is to offer a sense of community between visitors and locals, whilst showcasing the island’s history and culture through the arts.
Guests of luxury boutique resort Cap Maison can return after a long day (or night) of celebrating to their serene home-from-home on the northernmost cliffside of the island. A haven of tranquility, Cap Maison is set in private verdant splendor, whereby guests can take pleasure in experiencing a truly restorative stay after the festivities.
Highlights of the festival include:
Saint Lucia Carnival (6th June – 1st August 2018)
A vibrant blaze of colour, fashion artistry and culture, visitors can enjoy vivid and riveting events of creative design, animated costume and several lively street displays.
The carnival welcomes all to experience Saint Lucia’s artistic culture alongside passionate locals. Event staples include numerous calypso tents, a wide array of marching parades of the bands in costume that will have guests dancing along to the sounds of chrome-plated steel drums, brass and song.
First-time carnival celebrators can take pleasure in learning the art of ‘wining’, a traditional Caribbean move that sees dancers rotationally swing their hips either to the left or the right side. To really party with the Saint Lucians, this is the move to learn.

Curtains are up from the 31st August, and across this weekend, visitors can enjoy an event that fuses reggae, hip-hop, Afro-punk and R&B all-in-one. In addition to these exclusive performances, masterclasses will also be available, overseen by trendsetting musicians and industry professionals.

Visitors to the event can attend the various captivating music performances taking place across the island, in addition to moving theatrical performance, informative seminars and poignant art exhibitions that will also be taking place. Guests will be warmly welcomed to the several vibrant street parties taking place and be able to sample local culinary delights at numerous gastronomic events. The festival will end with a spectacular final celebration on the last weekend of the festival (28 – 29 October 2018) within each individual community.

A Cultural Celebration at Cap Maison
The celebrations don’t need to start and finish with the festivals. Guests of Cap Maison can enjoy a plethora of facilities and services that infuse the island’s culture. Visitors for example can sample the exquisite dishes on offer at the renowned Cliff at Cap or beachside The Naked Fisherman restaurants, both of which combine local produce with Michelin-starred inspired technique applied by Executive Chef Craig Jones.
To get to know the island rums a little better, the Cellar Maison is an ideal place to start with the rum-tasting experiences on offer. Brought to guests by a professional ‘rummier’, visitors can enjoy learning about the creation and distilling processes (including insight into their own product, the Cap Maison Cask Aged Rum), with tastings to accompany.
For those that enjoy a deluxe spa experience, several of the alluring treatments available at the Spa Maison such as the ‘Maison Tranquility’ body ritual incorporates several sumptuous island products such as vanilla, cocoa and coconut.
Set in the heart of the exclusive Cap Estate, the location of the resort lends itself to numerous culturally immersive activities for guests, with the vibrant Rodney Bay just a few moments-drive away for shopping, a flourishing dining scene and a glimpse into marina life. The resort’s idyllic location means guests can also take a trip to the historical landmark of Pigeon Island, and gaze out at the spectacular 360-degree views from the heights of the fort over Rodney Bay and beyond.
The concierge at Cap Maison can arrange tickets to any of the festivals and events for guests ahead of their stay.
