Invented nearly 60 years ago, the “Aruba Ariba” is the island’s take on the classic rum punch. This refreshing orange-red cocktail at Aruba Marriott Resort & Stellaris Casino, named the “Celebrity Aruba Ariba,” incorporates local favorite Papiamento Rum, Grey Goose, crème de banana, fruit punch, Grand Marnier, a dash of “Coecoei” (or local agave plants), and dehydrated orange. Guests can enjoy the fruity Ariba Ariba beachside or at the H2Oasis Adult Pool Bar.
Yummy Rummy Recipes from Jamaica
Round Hill Hotel and Villas’ signature cocktail, Liz’ Rum Punch has become a guest favorite since its creation. Ms. Shawn Towers created the cocktail to pay homage to her grandmother and Round Hill co-founder Elizabeth Pringle. This unique take on the classic Jamaican cocktail incorporates a scotch bonnet pepper, which was a favorite of Elizbeth Pringle. The resort’s bartenders created a jingly to remember the contents of the drink, “1 part sour, 2 part sweet, 3 parts strong and 4 parts weak.”
- 0.75 ounce Appleton Rum (Tommy Bahama White Rum* or Bacardi White Rum*)
- 0.75-ounce Coruba Dark Rum (Mount Gay Dark Rum*)
- 0.5-ounce lime juice
- 0.25-ounce clear syrup
- 1-ounce pineapple juice
- 0.25 ounce diced Scotch Bonnet Pepper (Jalapeno Pepper*)
- Combine both rums in a shaker with ice. Add the lime juice, clear syrup, pineapple juice, and scotch bonnet pepper. Shake well.
- Strain and pour over fresh ice in a highball glass. Garnish with a slice of pineapple.
Jamaica Inn‘s signature drink, Teddy’s Planter’s Punter, is served complimentary upon arrival and on the beach at 11 am for all guests. Jamaica Inn’s take on Planter’s Punch is named after the property’s late bartender Herbert “Teddy” Tucker, who worked there for nearly 60 years.
- 1 1/2 oz local dark rum (Myers Rum)
- 1/2 oz lime juice
- 1/2 oz simple syrup
- 2 splash Angostura bitters
- Stir and serve in a highball glass with ice, garnish with orange or pineapple, and a cherry
