Cap Maison in Saint Lucia Showcases the Ultimate Island Bucket-List
Aug 31, 2018
August 2018. Luxury boutique resort Cap Maison has introduced a collection of exclusive excursions that showcase Saint Lucia’s greatest highlights. With a dedicated concierge team on hand to help guests tick off their dream experiences, each fully-immersive tour or guided activity is totally bespoke and tailored to each individual guests’ interests.
The bucket-list collection has been created in response to consumer demand, following travel e-commerce brands announcing the rise in dream travel experiences. Booking.com for example announced that 45% of travellers have their own bucket list in mind, the majority of whom will aim to tick one or more of these dream destinations of their list this year. With autumn just around the corner, there’s still time to fulfil the ultimate Saint Lucian bucket list before the year is out – and in comfortable temperatures that reach pleasant highs of 31° across the autumn/winter season.
The Bucket List Collection Includes:
An Adventure by Land and Sea
Visitors can take a private cruise in the resort’s 46-foot motor-yacht down the west coast towards the south-west, visiting picturesque Marigot Bay (a natural harbour where boats have escaped storms), the iconic UNESCO World Heritage site of the majestic Pitons that perch on the coastline, and the vibrant St Lucian villages, before arriving in the port of Soufrière.
Here, guests can visit island highlights such as the Sulphur Springs (the world’s only drive-in volcano), take a dip in volcanic mud baths that are said to have powerful medicinal benefits, revive under a natural waterfall, and sample some authentic creole cuisine.
En route back to the resort, visitors have the opportunity to snorkel and discover colourful marine life and corals at one of the protected marine parks.
The price for the Soufrière Adventure Tour is approx. £146pp (plus taxes), including transfers.
Chocolate-Making – Bean to Bar
With a chocolate legacy that dates back to the 1700s, the island’s cocoa industry still thrives across several island estates. For guests that seek to delve into this rich history, the ‘Bean to Bar’ Tour is a treat for all the senses.
Setting sail in a catamaran, guests will arrive in Soufrière for their experience at the renowned Hotel Chocolat. The tour sees visitors enjoy a tutorial on the production of cocoa from the pods in the trees and ends with guests creating their very own chocolate that incorporates the estate’s own cocoa. The a la carte lunch makes for an extraordinary addition, with every item on the menu incorporating a cocoa element across sweet and savoury dishes. Following a therapeutic visit to the mud baths, guests will return to the catamaran just in time for a Piton sunset cruise.
The price for the Bean to Bar Tour is approx. £150pp (plus taxes), including transfers.
Enjoy ‘The Best View in the Caribbean’
Considering there are only two Pitons in the world (both of which are in Saint Lucia) a visit to the island’s primary symbol is an itinerary-must.
Cap Maison offer their guests the opportunity to hike the Gros Piton, that stands at an impressive 771m high. This hike is not for the faint-hearted, but with a dedicated guide to lead the way, those that take on the challenge are greatly rewarded with what is known is the “best view in the Caribbean”. One thing is for sure, guests that hike the Gros Piton will return to CapMaison with a whole new perspective on Saint Lucia’s natural beauty.
The price of the Gros Piton Hike is approx. £134pp (plus taxes), including transfers.
A Saint Lucian Stay at Cap Maison
Located at the northernmost tip of Saint Lucia, boutique resort Cap Maison’s setting is enough to make any guest pinch themselves; a paradisal cliffside retreat overlooking the azure waters of the Caribbean Sea, the neighbouring island of Martinique and natural landmark Pigeon Island, the resort is a tropical sanctuary with luxury at the helm, and the island at the heart.
With two distinct restaurant experiences available on site, guests can sample authentic island flavours just footsteps from their villa door. The Cliff at Cap offers a fusion-style menu of French and West-Indian inspired flavours, applied with a Michelin-starred technique. The Naked Fisherman takes inspiration from its beachside location, specialising in seafood and lighter plates. The talent behind these menu creations is Caribbean Chef of the Year 2018, Executive Chef Craig Jones. A welsh Rastafarian, Chef Craig brings Caribbean sunshine to each dish, with elements that hark back to his European training under the likes of Raymond Blanc.
The Cap Maison Cellar features an extensive collection of exquisite wines from all over the world, hand-picked for Friday Deli-night experiences and wine-tasting sessions with the in-house sommelier. Fuelled by a passion to deliver unique and exclusive culinary concepts for their guests, Cap Maison are the first resort on the island to create their own branded beverages that guests are welcome to sample and purchase during a stay. The collection of products includes the ‘Cap Maison Improper St. Lucian Ale’, a 10-year-old Solera Cask Rum that has been aged, blended and bottled in-house, a Solera 10-year-old Aged Rum Punch that is aged within the confines of the Cap Maison Cellar, and its own 10th Anniversary House Red Wine in celebration of the resort’s upcoming birthday this October, made in collaboration with a South African wine producer.
Situated just a five-minute drive from the resort, the island’s historic attraction Pigeon Island is a must. With 44-acres of land to roam, the islet makes for a charming hiking spot that offers the most spectacular 360-degree views at the height of the fort. To put the “Cap stamp” on the experience, Chef Craig can put together a delicious gourmet lunch for guests to take with them, featuring delights such as Spiny Lobster Brioche and much more.
To make the most of the famous Saint Lucian sunset, Cap Maison features several intimate spots to savour the moment in privacy. From a chilled bottle of champagne ziplined down to ‘Rock Maison’, a private wooden deck with an outlook to the sea that surges over the reefs, to indulging in exotic cocktails and delectable nibbles at the intimate Smuggler’s Point Gazebo surrounded by tropical horticulture, or even taking to the sea with a deluxe sunset cruise, guests can admire the natural splendour of the auburn hues in ways that won’t be forgotten in a hurry. www.capmaison.com
