VERANDAH RESORT & SPA IN ANTIGUA IS READY FOR THE SUMMER SEASON
The renovation of all the Waterfront Suites, about 80 rooms in total, brings new furniture, improved bathrooms, fresh paint, hardwood flooring, new artwork and soft furnishings, and a bright joie de vivre spirit while keeping the elegant Caribbean decor within. The local feel extends to all other rooms, with most accommodations arranged as adjacent suites that join to create a cozy Caribbean cottage comprising whitewashed trim, pale-green exteriors, and a shared front porch. From the Hillside Suites, with their private furnished verandahs, granite countertops, and space for up to four guests, to the two-bedroom Plunge Pool Villas with a dedicated living room, and full kitchen, and private pool, all digs are designed with maximum comfort in mind.
In addition to the upgrading of Waterfront Suites, the resort has made significant improvements throughout. New coffee and pastry eatery, simply named Coffee Shop, brings killer caffeine brews, flaky sweet treats, and afternoon tea, while fine dining restaurant Nicole’s has also benefited from a makeover. A gift shop has recently opened, allowing guests to take a piece of their Caribbean adventure home with them, Rasta Beach has a new pool, and the fitness center appears re-energized after a full renovation. Diners are spoiled for choice, from buffet meals and internationally themed nights at Seabreeze to Caribbean-accented fare at The Buccaneer, from light snacks at the Beach Bar & Grill to grilled specialties at Wadadli Snack Shack, set on Rasta Beach and blessed with views of the turquoise Caribbean Sea. Five complimentary bars and lounges ensure that there is always a spot nearby to relax with a favorite tipple like The Verandah’s famous rum punch. Every Monday evening, drinking gets social with the weekly Manager’s Cocktail Party, where refreshing cocktails, appetizing hors d’oeuvres, live entertainment, and the chance to win prizes combine for a night to remember.
Activities at The Verandah Resort & Spa are unrivaled on the island, from guests making the most of two white-sand beaches to sliding into four spectacular freshwater swimming pools, including the main pool with a center fountain, one of the largest pools on Antigua. Offshore, on tranquil clear sea waters, families and friends can explore the island’s coastline on a four-person Hobie Cat sailboat, swim in warm, gently lilting waters, snorkel to see tropical fish and vibrant sea life, kayak, pedal boat, and stand-up paddleboard, and when it’s time for some relaxation, lay back to take in some rays on a water hammock. Even those new to water sports can feel comfortable trying something new — all non-motorized water activities are included in the price —thanks to the resort’s qualified, friendly staff who are ready and excited to set guests on their way to endless hours of waterborne fun. Back on land, the property offers ping pong, a pool, beach volleyball, tennis, and even an 18-hole mini-golf course. Kids stay entertained at the complimentary kids’ club, with most activities scheduled outdoors, and seasonal activities and child-friendly entertainment delight the entire family at Easter, Halloween, Christmas, and more. Beyond the resort’s wide range of options, the tour desk can book excursions to engaging historical sites like Admiral Horatio Nelson’s Dockyard, on zip-line trips through the rainforest, out scuba diving or sport fishing, or on an island tour with Pink Panther Safaris. At The Verandah Resort & Spa, the possibilities are limitless.
