JAMAICA APPLAUDS THE FIRST NONSTOP FLIGHT FROM PHILADELPHIA TO KINGSTON
American Airlines Flight Takes off on Nov. 4 to Jamaica’s Capital City
KINGSTON, JAMAICA, Oct. 2021 – The Jamaica Tourist Board (JTB ) welcomes American Airlines’ first direct flight from Philadelphia International Airport (PHL) to Kingston’s Norman Manley International Airport (KIN) beginning November 4, 2021. The thrice-weekly flight will expand access to the Cultural Capital of the Caribbean just in time for the winter travel season. “We’re delighted to welcome this new service from Philadelphia to Kingston,” said Jamaica’s Minister of Tourism Hon. Edmund Bartlett. “As we see a resurgence in international travel and approach Jamaica’s high season, we’re excited to increase access to Kingston, our UNESCO-designated Creative City that’s slated to see nearly 500 new hotel rooms opening before 2023.”
The new service will allow for greater connectivity on a route frequently traveled by Americans visiting friends and relatives in Jamaica. Departing Monday, Thursday and Sunday, the flight will also give visitors easier access to destination Jamaica. “Kingston is the entertainment mecca of the Caribbean. From sports to entertainment, from nightlife to gastronomy, Kingston has it all,” said Donovan White, Jamaica’s Director of Tourism. “This new partnership with American Airlines will afford passengers many opportunities to experience this diversity that our capital city offers, while still being able to connect to other resort areas.”
“American has proudly served Jamaica for more than four decades and we are looking forward to our continued expansion this year with a new route between Kingston and our Philadelphia hub,” said José A. Freig, VP of International for American Airlines. “This new route will complement our current Kingston-Miami service and will allow us to further strengthen our network in Jamaica, which will include this year up to 80 weekly flights to the U.S.” Bordered to the north by the island’s largest mountain range and to the south by the world’s seventh-largest natural harbour, Kingston provides opportunities for natural, historical, cultural, and recreational experiences, a contrast that cannot be found anywhere else in the country.
